I live in a new city, and in fact, a new state. Even after 2½ years, I'm always looking around to see things I haven't noticed before such as a particular store I may visit in the future, restaurants, plants and landscaping ideas, and always figuring out where I am or where I'm going. Thank you for Google Maps and GPS!

While running a quick Costco errand, I noticed that the distant mountains still had snow on them even though, from my house, the closer foothills are barren and dry. It reminded me that the mountains I see every day don't give the full picture of the entire mountain range from a distance, and, my life is like that. I see only a portion of life, the part that affects me in this time and this place, but God sees it all, the entire picture of His creation, including the lives of His people, and more importantly, He sees and knows the future and all eternity, the BIG picture that I can only believe from His Word and promises. Even a little thought about the mountains reminds me of who God is, that He is in control and will never leave me.

I will never leave you nor forsake you. Hebrews 13:5b

Dear God,

When we are caught up in the day-to-day events and the troubles of this world, we may feel discouraged and that we are alone. Help us remember that you have promised to always be with us. Thank you for reassuring us of your promises, and give us peace in our everyday lives, through our Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.
